While we are waiting at the airport, I decided it would be a good time to update my blog. Carter is now 2 months old and we are loving every minute of him. He is such a good baby. We are also excited to move to Lehi to our new Town home. It hopefully will be completed by December 15th. So you ask why we are sitting at the airport, well we are in San Diego. Ryan had a American Society of Landscape Architects convention here and Carter and I came along. The weather has been beautiful and we have enjoyed spending time with my brother Rob who lives in L.A. We went boogie boarding at Coronado Beach. The water was freezing cold but once you were numb, it was fine. We spent all day Monday and the San Diego Zoo. It was a lot of fun seeing the animals and some of my family members(he he). Carter and I spent time just relaxing and sleeping. It was a blast but we are excited to get back home.

Where has the time gone? It seems just yesterday that I met Ryan in the Singles Ward and now we are on our 3rd year anniversary and welcoming a baby into the world the end of August. Ryan has always been my best friend and always will be. He makes me laugh and smile so much. He is such a hard worker and can't wait to be a dad. He has so many plans for our baby that it makes me laugh. Like BYU football games and eating pizza together. Going on hikes and learning to ride a bike. Our baby is going to have the best dad in the world. Happy Anniversary Ryan! I love you!

So it is official, Ryan has graduated. We are so proud of all that he has accomplished. He was the only student in his class that passed without having to make changes to his thesis project! It was very nice of his parents to drive from Utah and also Emily's parents and little sister to come as well. He is so glad to be done with school and ready to move on to the next chapter as he looks for a job and becomes a dad at the end of August. Good job Ryan! Your amazing!

We are having a BOY!

This morning around 8:15am we found out that we are having a little boy. We are so happy that our baby is growing healthy and well. We are also excited that he is going to have a boy cousin about 2 1/2 months apart, which will be very fun. The due date is still estimated at August 28th.

This year, we decided to celebrate Valentine's Day early. On Friday, February 4th we went and saw a musical that I have always wanted to see. My mom and sister saw it a couple of years ago and just loved it. Part of my Christmas present was to see the musical "Wicked"!!! We saw it at Pope Joy Hall in Albuquerque. We also went to a new restaurant that used to be a gas station called the Standard Diner. The food was delicious. It was such a great musical and very funny. Ryan even said that he liked it. Thanks to my wonderful husband who got us the tickets.

Our Big News

What's our big news, you ask? Well the big news is "We Are Expecting!" Ryan and I are very excited and hopefully at the end of August we will welcome a healthy baby into our lives. I am really looking forward to be mother and Ryan is excited to be a dad. Growing up I have loved being around children and now we are going to have one of our own.We will keep everyone updated in the future.

Well I guess it's time for a new post since Halloween was a long time ago. Well a lot has happened on our side of the ditch. Ryan and I are living in Utah till Jan. 15th, 2011!!!!!! I left my place of employment in New Mexico so we could be here for all the fun events. So I am trying not to think about when we do go back to New Mexico because I will have to find a new job but I am keeping my fingers crossed. Ryan is excited to start his LAST SEMESTER OF GRADUATE SCHOOL!!!! We are also hoping that a job will be lined up when he graduates but we will see what happens. Well hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Love ya!

This year we went to a Halloween party with some of Ryan's classmates from school. There were some great costumes. My costume consisted of Ryan going to Savers and buying 5 items. Then he told me to figure out a costume with the items. In the end I was a diva witch and Ryan was a French painter (hence the mustache). He has been feeling really French lately with his recent design for a garden in France.

Labor Day Blast!

This past labor day weekend, Ryan and I drove to Ouray, Colorado to meet Ryan's parents. We camped, rode bikes, looked at cool waterfalls, pretty views of the mountains and lost horribly to Jeanne in my new game that I got for my birthday called One Word. We had delicious food and a wonderful time watching the BYU game (GO COUGARS!!!) We had so much fun and are grateful to Steve and Jeanne for meeting us there. We love you guys!

September 1^st was a big day for Emily, she turned one year older. We thru a big bash for her that day which included; a surprise breakfast, lunch party at work, and another party in the evening. Emily’s coworkers made a rather humorous list for Emily. They wrote this list on a huge poster and posted it in the clinic where she works.

3. She only takes her 40 minutes to ride her bike to work.

4. She doesn’t whine everyday-just every other!

Also my final year of grad school started this week. I’m really excited about this semester, because it is competition studio. For the entire semester we focus on entering a competition and creating a design for it. I am entering a competition that is held in France each year. It’s called the Chaumont International Garden Festival. Landscape Architects, Architects, and Students from all over the world submit designs for the summer long festival. The judges will then select 20 of the designs and provide an all-expense paid trip to come to France and install their design. As you can see in the picture the shape of each garden is shaped like a bell. This year’s theme is “Gardens of the Future”. So I’m excited to start going, and it would be awesome to install your garden in France. So if I win Emily and I might be making a trip to France this upcoming summer!

I've had some time before school starts up again so with that time I have pursued some hobbies of mine. I enjoy taking photos (mostly of nature, buildings, and danbo) and I also enjoy rendering digital scenes (depending on my patience at the time). I thought I would share some of the scenes I have been working on. The pictures are a collection of some of my favorite LDS Temples These pictures are a combination of photography and digital rendering placed on top of the image. Some of them are extremely exaggerated and there are a few mistakes but regardless I had fun making them.

It’s nice to know that there is more to life than school and work. It seems that lately that’s all that has occupied our minds. Yet it’s a good thing we both have our weekends free to spend time outdoors and relax. Then every now and then we can both line up our schedules for a vacation. Our family gets together every year at Zion national park, it kind of like a rite of passage of being an Anderson. So this year we packed our jeep with camping gear and suitcases and drove the 10 or so hours to Zion. Except of driving straight thru we stopped in Page Arizona for a short hike.

Antelope Canyon is a few miles outside of Page, costs $20 to hike, since you can only hike it as part of a guided tour. On the ground the canyon opening is just a small sliver then opens up as you descend deeper into the earth. Once you reach the bottom the canyon is a narrow slot canyon with wave-like walls. Overall all I can say it was amazing, beautiful, and moving. Our guide was great and very relaxed; at one point he hid behind a corner and scared me when I walked past. At one point our small group stopped at an opening and our guide played amazing grace on his flute thing. It was very moving being in such a beautiful and awe-inspiring location. I would highly recommend this hike and thought it was worth the money it cost.

Following our hike we drove the rest of the way into Zion. We spent three days there hiking and a bit of dancing (yes dancing). The best part was camping next to the river, family gatherings, and reading a good book under the cottonwood trees.

Following Zion we headed up to Idaho to stay at the Cabin in Island Park. This week went way to quick. We stayed busy kayaking, canoeing, and riding four wheelers.

A huge thanks to Steve and Jeanne, we had so much fun and can’t wait to do it again next year.

Our almost 2 year anniversary

Ryan and I are coming up on our 2 year anniversary. I can believe it has been that long all ready but we have had some great times. Like moving to Albuquerque, spending time with family for holidays, surprise trips to Kansas and the list could go on and on. I want to express to Ryan how much I love and adore him. I am so grateful that I married my best friend for time and all eternity. He has helped me become a better person. He teaches me about the gospel and he can answer any question I have about the scriptures. I am also very grateful for our parents. They raised us in the gospel and they were great examples. Both Steve and Jeanne and my parents show us what a perfect marriage is, yes parents fight but they always make up and still love each other. I know I can be grouchy sometimes but Ryan always makes me feel better by making me laugh. Thank you Ryan for loving me and supporting me. I am grateful your my husband and best friend. Love you always and forever.

Memorial Day Surprise!

This past weekend, we went to Kansas to spend time with our family. I did not know of the trip till 2:00pm when Ryan came and picked me up. For the past several weeks, I have asked him over and over again if we can go to Kansas for Memorial day. Over and over again he said it was too far or not enough time so i dropped the subject and left it alone. So i get dropped off at work on Friday and when he comes and gets me, I notice in the back of the car a pillow and my favorite BYU blanket. I asked him if we were going camping, on a picnic or whatever. That's when he told me that he has to decided to drive to Kansas and if i needed anything at home. I told him no and we were on our way. So i cryed with excitement and then smacked him for lying to me. I called my family who knew that we were coming for about a week. I was so happy! On our way back we stopped at this one place called Cadillac Ranch, which is a field with about 10 cars sticking up in the ground (refer to picture) Thanks for the fun weekend Mom and Dad! And thank you Ry for the surprise!

The Lost Cave

For the past year and a half I have been the newsletter editor for the New Mexico Society of Landscape Architects. By doing this job it ensures i get cheap tuition here at school. Basically my work as the editor is to assemble articles, ads, and events into a neatly designed pdf email. My job also includes taking pictures and notes at Landscape Architecture get togethers. So as part of my duties as the editor Emily and I went to the Albuquerque Bio Park for a Landscape Society Event. While taking pictures and notes, I found myself separated from the group. During this time of being lost we found ourselves lost in a mysterious cave. We spent hours in there not knowing how to get out. So to pass the time I made a video of our adventure.

Since i can remember, my mom would make cinnamon rolls for breakfast during the first session. I always loved this tradition and could not give it up. So since we are living in Albuquerque, i have to keep the tradition going. Plus Ryan loves them! But I was texting my little sister during the first session of conference and she said that my mom did not make them. I will need to have a chat with her later. Bad mommy!

We had so much fun this past weekend. Family was in town and we went out to on a beautiful sunny weekend to see some sights. Dinner at Pro Ranch Market was excellent, my favorite Mexican restaurant here in Albuquerque. Yes it is a grocery store. Then Saturday took the Rail Runner to Santa Fe. Santa Fe was fun, we browsed farmers markets and art exhibitions. Also went over and spent some time at the Plaza! Overall had a great weekend.

I love Christmas eve and Christmas! I love spending it with family! Ryan and i got so really cool gifts which include: fancy toothbrushes, camera, pajamas, salad shooter, a big box with shampoo and conditioner, razors and such. I gave Ryan new church shoes and pants(he looks really sharp!) and Ryan gave me a very pretty bedspread for our bed with really cool pillows. I love Christmas!

A couple of days ago we were able to go to Missouri with my family. We visited a community of Christ temple. It was pretty interesting. We also went across the street to visit the LDS Visitors Center. We also went to the Liberty Jail site in Liberty, Missouri. Most of my family have never been there before so it was a very touching experience and my testimony grew so much for Joseph Smith. He was such a amazing man and did so much for the church.

Well sorry we have not written for a while. Ryan is supposed to update it since he has more time but he never does and says that i need to. So here we are, our last post was in JULY!!! But anyways, things have been going great. After the last post, we moved back to Albuquerque for Ryan to continue with school. He really enjoys school and his classmates are fun. I got my old job back and am loving it. I love everyone i work with! We were able to spend time in Utah for thanksgiving with Ryan's family. It was fun to see all his extended family members up in Bountiful, Utah with his grandpa. All the little kids are getting bigger and a couple of new babies have been born recently. Recently Ryan finished his third to last semester of school and we drove to Kansas to be with my family for Christmas. Hopefully we will be able to spend a couple weeks here, sadly it is up to my boss in Albuquerque. So hopefully we got everyone caught up on what is going on in our lives and my new year goal is to be better at writing more often. Merry Christmas to all of our friends and family elsewhere and have a great new year! Love ya!

Rico, CO Livin

Here we are half way thru the summer and we have not updated our blog once. Yet we have had plenty to blog about, just have not done the bloggin part. Our biggest adventure of the summer ended a few week ago. For almost the entire month of June we lived in a small trailer in Rico, CO. Anderson Engineering sent us to work on the reclamation work for the month, which included watering, seeding, and fertilizing. We had a great time working and camping high up in the Rocky Mountains. Then on the weekends we were able to go on several day trips to Mesa Verde and Telluride. Mesa Verde was really cool, yet scared me to death when i had to climb up these huge ladders. Telluride was amazing, we went hiking and took the gondola to the top of the mountain. Yet by the end of the third week we had grown tired of living in the trailer and was thankful we had one more week until we were able to head home.

We have just returned from Washington DC! We had a blast spending the last 4 days out there seeing the sites and visiting all the free museums. About a month ago Ryan was invited by the American Society of Landscape Architects to represent the landscape architecture students in New Mexico. This is quite the honor considering he is only a first year student. So for the first two days he was in meetings and was able to visit the congressmen from NM. Then the next two days were ours to roam the city. Check out our video of short clips and pictures. Also check out the funny picture of us feeding a squirrel.

Well to start off Valentines day week was a busy one. I surprised Ryan with a different surprise each day of the past week. I gave him a little gift each day, and then for his big gift i had his bike tuned and fixed. He does not like only having one working gear on his bike, so now he has 21 to chose from.
Yesterday Ryan mysteriously packed his red back pack and asked if I could be ready to go at one. I had no idea what he was up to, but we left. We ended up driving around the back side of the sandia mountains and to a spot where you could see all of Albuquerque from 10,000 ft. up in the air. Thankfully his red packback had my warm coat, snacks, and tennis shoes in it. We ended up taking a short hike to the kiwanas cabin. It was cool hike, Ryan liked all the Spanish moss hanging from the trees. The Cabin was a Civilian Conservation Corps project and was built in 1936. For being 10,000ft up in the air it was not that cold or not very much snow. After we drove back down and ate dinner at casa de benavidez which means House of lies according to Corey. The food was very delish and really good soppapias. Here are some pictures of our adventure.

So here is what i have been up too at school...
My last project was to design a 33 home development that was a sustaniable community. This was my final project for studio one. I presented this to a panel of professional/Judges, and overall they really liked it.

The project before this one was to design a new urban public park in downtown albuquerque.

One more project is a japanese garden design.

Our Christmas Tree
We had a great time Spending Christmas in Utah. It was so nice to be home and see family and friends. I love the nativity and spice rack Steve and Jeanne gave us. Then the camping gear will be so much fun my parents gave us. Since Ryan is the 11 year old scout leader he will keep it well used.

2008 has been an eventful year for us, to keep things simple this is what has happened. Married in July and moved to Albuquerque a month later. 2009 is here and looking forward to the adventures.

We just returned from having a great Thanksgiving Holiday with my family in Andover, Kansas. We took the long drive from Albuquerque to Kansas which took about 10 hours each way, but it was so much fun to see family. We feel so blessed to see family so soon, we just saw Ryan’s parents when they came down to visit us two weeks ago. Then in another two weeks we will be in Utah with family again.

Even though we miss everyone, life in Albuquerque has been fun for us. We are especially looking forward to spending Thanksgiving in Kansas and spending Christmas in Utah. We hope to see our friends from Utah during Christmas break. We went to the zoo a few weekends back and took some funny pictures.
Sadly a lot of the animals reminded me of my family. These lumps look like my brothers Aaron, Nate, and Rob watching TV. Then the gorillas reminded me of my dad on a Sunday afternoon. I’m just joking but Ryan and I both had a good laugh about it. We had a great time, it was cool to see all the animals and act like little kids.

It’s hard to cheer for the Lobos, but we went to the Lobo game this weekend. They beat San Diego St. 70-7; it was a very lopsided victory.

Life has been getting busy for us here in Albuquerque. I’ve been busy working at Rio Rancho physical therapy and Ryan is starting to feel the sweat of a graduate program. Yet I'm home in the evenings and Ryan is usually finishes his homework by the time I’m home. So we have time to go on some fun outings. This last Labor Day weekend we met my family in Denver to spend time with them. We were able to go to an amusement park and celebrate my 21st Birthday! It was really fun to see my whole family. Then a few weekends back we went camping at tent rocks. Ryan's class went there on Sunday to do an assignment, so we went the next friday-saturday so Ryan could do his assignment. We also bought a tent at target but when we arrived at the campsite our tent had no poles, which was rather disappointing. Ryan tried to be surviorman and build a hut out of sticks, but I convinced him that we should sleep in the back of the truck. We still had a great time and had an amazing hike the following day at Tent Rocks.

Go Cougars! This past Friday Ryan was suprised to come home and find a BYU Train Cake and the apartment decorated in blue and white. That was a great game against UCLA!

Amazing Adventures: volume 1

Emily and I have been married for over one month and have had some fun times. So we thought we would sum it all up in our own Amazing Adventures Comic book.

Page 1. Immediately after our wedding day we took of for Cancun, Mexico. We had so much fun and were able to see several sites. Both of us really enjoyed a place called Xel-ha. If anyone has the opportunity to visit Cancun we highly recommend visiting this place. We loved snorkeling there and were amazed at all the fish we saw. They also have a area of interesting plants. Which i must of been the only one who thought they were interesting since Emily and I were the only ones in this area.

Another fun place that we were able to visit was Chitzen Itza. Here we were able to see one of the largest standing Mayan pyramid. Also we visited ik kil centote, Playa Del Carmen, and the Tulum Ruins. Here are some more pictures of the sights.

Before Moving to New Mexico we had time to visit the family cabin in Island Park. While there we went to Yellowstone and saw old faithful. Then the last weekend in Utah we both thought it would be a great experience to visit the Manti Temple. Here are the last group of pictures, take care everyone!!

Our new adventure

So let me introduce us. Ryan and I have dated for about two years before we got engaged. During that time he was attending BYU-Idaho so the distance was really hard for me. He came home often but not enough. He proposed February 22nd. We went up to Salt Lake City and had dinner,then went on a carriage ride to memory grove. He proposed on the way back to temple square. We were engaged from end of February to July 12. We were married in the Timpanogos Temple on July 12,it was the most perfect day ever. We have now moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Ryan will be attending Grad School for Landscape Architecture. It is our first adventure as a married couple, but we love our new apartment and very excited to be here.
We have been here for about 4 days and finally have our apartment set up. Its called Indian Plaza and it is close to campus so Ryan can ride his bike to school.

Our apartment has turned out quite nice. We like the place, it is quiet and the pool is only 10 steps from our front door. Also we are still looking for a big picture to go above our couch, so if anyone has some ideas let us know. We love you all and thanks for the support you give us.
